Alderwood Co-operative Nursery School (ACNS) has been providing high quality preschool and kindergarten enrichment programs to the Alderwood and surrounding communities for over 35 years. We are a licensed, not-for-profit, parent-run, cooperative nursery school.

ACNS is currently welcoming applications from experienced, creative individuals for the role of Program Supervisor. The successful candidate will work alongside and oversee the Assistant Supervisor. This position is for a renewable contract. ACNS follows the Toronto District School Board calendar for holidays and PA Days.


- Bachelors Degree (ECE) or an ECE diploma
- Current membership in the Ontario College of Early Child Educators as an RECE

- Vulnerable Sector Criminal reference check, dated within the last six months

- Up to date vaccinations as per Toronto Public Health standards

- Valid TB test
- Valid Standard First Aid, with CPR-C
- Knowledge of the Emergent curriculum
- Written and verbal English skills
- Proven leadership abilities
- Well-developed problem solving skills
- Flexible and energetic approach to work
- Positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff
- Physically able to participate with children in centre and outdoors
- Basic ability to use technology (including smart phones, computers, tablets)

Duties & Responsibilities: 
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high quality child care program can operate
- Plan, develop and implement stimulating activities for young children, including arts, crafts, games and special events which promote physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being

- Collaborate with families and board members in a positive and productive manner

- Participate in long term and short term planning

- Plan and carry out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in accordance with the school’s philosophy

- Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities in a weekly Program Plan

- Collaborate in carrying out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child-directed activity, care routines and transition times

- Provide experiences and play materials that actively promote diversity and acceptance in interactions and attitudes


Hours: 38 hrs/week including prep time.

Program hours: Monday to Friday morning: 8:30am – 12:00 pm

Tuesday through Thursday afternoon: 1:00 – 4:00pm
