Child Development Centre – Registered Early Childhood Educator

Full Time Contract Position

Rosalie Hall is an accredited Child and Youth Mental Health Centre located in East Toronto. The agency provides a comprehensive range of specialized care and treatment programs/services and infant mental health intervention focusing on the needs of young parents, their infants/children and families. An on-site Child Development Centre offers care to infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Position Summary: Working as part of the Child Development Centre (CDC) team, the Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) provides a high quality learning environment that supports the unique needs of the families and children it serves. The RECE reports directly to the CDC Supervisor and CDC Manager. Needs may change quickly and the applicant must be available to respond to flexible scheduling requirements and the emerging needs of the program. The applicant must also be comfortable representing the program and agency at meetings internally or in the community. Responsibilities include: adhering to licensing requirements, meeting children’s needs in a supportive and empathetic manner, programming developmentally appropriate and meaningful learning experiences, exercising CDC policies and procedures, completing Ages and Stages Questionnaires, developing Developmental Support Plans, completing paperwork as required, working collaboratively with other child care workers, community partners and agency staff, partnering with families and discussing each child’s development and daily activities and mentoring students from various post-secondary institutions.


  • Early Childhood Education diploma or degree
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Minimum two years of experience in a licensed child care centre
  • Infant mental health training or certification
  • Knowledge of related policy, legislation and relevant community resources (CCEYA 2014, Child and Family Services Act)
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education curriculum “How Does Learning Happen?”
  • Strong decision-making skills to provide continuity in program for children and their families
  • Administrative and organizational skills including time management and an ability to demonstrate flexibility and cope with competing demands
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth and vulnerable families
  • Satisfactory pattern of previous attendance
  • Sensitivity to an anti-bias/anti-oppressive approach to service
  • Developed ability to consult and collaborate with team members and professionals in other disciplines both within the agency and in the community
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with satisfactory computer skills
